The client already had a beautifully constructed oak frame building but wanted to make better use of the space throughout the year. Rather than replacing the structure or undertaking a major rebuild, the objective was to enhance what was already there by creating greater protection from the weather while preserving the character of the oak frame.
Our solution was to retrofit 17 metres of flush-mounted sliding glass, carefully designed to integrate with the existing building. To achieve a clean, high-quality finish, bespoke oak fascia and soffit were added, allowing the glass tracks and guttering to be discreetly incorporated into the structure.
The flush-mounted glass maintains uninterrupted views across the garden while providing excellent protection from wind and rain. When the weather is warm, the glass panels slide effortlessly away to restore the open feel of the original oak building.
The completed project demonstrates how an existing oak frame can be transformed into a true outdoor room without compromising its original character. The addition of sliding glass has significantly extended the usability of the space, creating a comfortable environment for relaxing, dining and entertaining throughout the seasons.
